How to make it
5 steps. Take it one step at a time.
Preheat your oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Place the baguettes inside for 3-5 minutes until the crust is crispy but the inside remains soft.
5 minSlice the baguettes lengthwise, leaving one side attached
Slice the baguettes lengthwise, leaving one side attached to form a hinge. Pull out a bit of the breadcrumb from the center to make more room for fillings if needed.
Spread a layer of mayonnaise
Spread a layer of mayonnaise on one side and a generous layer of pork pâté on the other side of the bread's interior.
Layer the slices of Vietnamese ham
Layer the slices of Vietnamese ham, followed by the cucumber strips and the pickled daikon and carrots.
Add the cilantro sprigs and sliced bird's eye chilies
Add the cilantro sprigs and sliced bird's eye chilies. Drizzle a small amount of soy sauce or Maggi seasoning over the vegetables.
A little kitchen wisdom
For the most authentic flavor, use Maggi Seasoning instead of regular soy sauce. If you can't find Vietnamese ham (Chả lụa), you can substitute with roast pork or even grilled chicken.
