How to make it
4 steps. Take it one step at a time.
Heat the oil in a small saucepan
Heat the oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant and lightly golden, about 1-2 minutes.
2 minAdd the fermented soybean paste, water, peanut butter, and sugar
Add the fermented soybean paste, water, peanut butter, and sugar to the pan. Stir well to combine, breaking up any large chunks of soybean paste with your spoon.
Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce
Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce for 5-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it has thickened to your preference.
8 minRemove from heat and let the sauce cool completely before serving
Remove from heat and let the sauce cool completely before serving. The sauce will thicken further as it cools.
A little kitchen wisdom
If the sauce is too thick, add a tablespoon of water at a time to reach your desired consistency. For a spicier kick, add fresh chili or sambal oelek at the end.
