How to make it
5 steps. Take it one step at a time.
Combine the ground pork, salt, black pepper, sage, thyme, red pepper flakes
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, salt, black pepper, sage, thyme, red pepper flakes, maple syrup, and minced garlic.
Mix thoroughly by hand
Mix thoroughly by hand until all the herbs and spices are evenly distributed throughout the meat. Do not overwork the meat.
Divide the mixture
Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape them into flat patties about 1/2 inch thick.
Heat a large skillet or non-stick pan
Heat a large skillet or non-stick pan over medium heat. Place the patties in the pan, working in batches if necessary to avoid crowding.
Cook the patties
Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side until they are browned and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

A little kitchen wisdom
For the best flavor, let the meat mixture rest in the refrigerator for at least an hour or overnight before cooking. You can use ground turkey or chicken as a leaner alternative to pork.
