How to make it
5 steps. Take it one step at a time.
Add the fine coffee grounds and sugar
Add the fine coffee grounds and sugar into a sturdy glass or coffee cup.
Pour the freshly boiled water
Pour the freshly boiled water (100°C (212°F)) over the grounds and sugar.
Stir well for a few seconds
Stir well for a few seconds to ensure all grounds are saturated and the sugar is dissolved.
Allow the coffee
Allow the coffee to sit undisturbed for 3 to 5 minutes. This allows the coffee to brew and the 'mud' (sediment) to settle at the bottom of the glass.
3 minSip the coffee slowly from the top
Sip the coffee slowly from the top, being careful not to disturb the sediment at the bottom.
A little kitchen wisdom
The key to a good Kopi Tubruk is using very fine grounds and letting it sit long enough for the 'mud' to settle at the bottom. Do not stir it again once the grounds have settled.
