Let's make something good

How to make it

4 steps. Take it one step at a time.

  1. Grind the coffee beans

Grind the coffee beans to a very fine consistency, similar to table salt.

  2. Place the ground coffee

Place the ground coffee into the portafilter basket. Use a tamper to apply firm, even pressure (about 30 lbs) to create a level coffee puck.

  3. Insert the portafilter

Insert the portafilter into the espresso machine group head. Start the brewing process immediately. The water should be roughly 93°C (200°F).

  4. Allow the machine

Allow the machine to extract the coffee for 25-30 seconds until about 60ml (2 oz) of espresso is produced. Serve immediately in a pre-warmed demitasse cup.

A little kitchen wisdom

For the best result, use fresh coffee beans ground immediately before brewing. The extraction should take between 25 and 30 seconds.

Keep the good going

For now. And for later.

Make it ahead

Espresso must be enjoyed immediately; it cannot be made ahead as the crema dissipates and the flavor profile changes rapidly.

Store & enjoy

Not recommended for storage. If needed, use in baking or for iced coffee drinks later. Do not reheat; use cold.
